Ngày 3-10-1994 tàu Neptune Aries đâm phải cầu tàu nhà máy lọc dầu Cát lái, làm đổ gần 1.700 tấn dầu đúng lúc triều cường vào trung nguồn sông Sài Gòn & sông Đồng Nai. Hàng ngàn héc ta mạ và lúa mới cấy ở hai huyện Nhà Bè và Cần Giờ, Tp. HCM, bị chết do ô nhiễm dầu.
